As we approach our first year anniversary at ThreePoint, we’d like to let you know what a pleasure it has been providing you with a robust web hosting service.
We have started to approach the limits of our current server and have been experiencing a slight speed reduction with our hardware. We have a plan to remedy this!
So that we can continue to offer you an extra-fast web hosting service, we’re going to shift our server into a new home to provide extra room for performance.
There will be some downtime while we carry out this move.
During the move, we will be taking advantage of the down-time to perform some maintenance tweaks to the server.
Working on the server will be a two-step process:
1. Server reboot: first, we need to prepare our server.
This server reboot will take 15 minutes and will be completed on Saturday, 10 February 2018.
Start: 12:15am NZST. End: 12:30am NZST.
2. Move server: then we shift the server, apply maintenance work that we need to do and then bring the server back online. This will take 3 hours and will be completed on Sunday 18 February 2018. Start: 12:15am NZST. End: 03:15am NZST.
No. Everything will return to normal when the server is brought back online.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your maintenance plan, please send us a support ticket by emailing us at support@threepoint.nz. We will happily work with you on any issues.
If for any reason we need to change any of the times above, we will send you an updated notice.
As you may be aware, a vulnerability within the central processing unit (CPU) or “brain” of modern computers has been recently discovered that could let attackers access sensitive information.
Servers such as ours are also affected by this vulnerability. While we already have an impressive level of security in place, it is our responsibility to ensure that your data is safe and secure should any attacker try to gain entry into our server. .
Therefore, when we perform maintenance on our server during the move outlined above, we will be applying a patch to ensure that you are optimally protected from this vulnerability.
